Forrest's Four Favorites
Periodically I’ll share four things that Forrest (and mama) are loving!
Three Little Pigs Crinkly Book: Let’s face it. Since I’ve become a mom, each shopping trip now turns into an opportunity to hunt down something new for my little guy. Even a trip to Nordstrom’s Rack! On one particular afternoon of shopping sans baby, and missing my little guy, I came across this book-toy hybrid and couldn’t resist! We aim to have books readily available at all times for Forrest and this plus a cuddle toy was too perfect. He’s obsessed! The crinkly paper is a classic baby addiction. It helps that we can have fun reading the story to him with a dramatic reading on the go :)
Decorative Play Mat: Long gone are the days when a simple square play mat would cut it for my little man. He started rolling over at 3 months (eek!) and was soon rolling his way onto our hardwood flooring (ouch!). The kid clearly needed his freedom. This is hands down the best purchase we’ve made for him. He quickly moved through his next developmental milestones with all the extra space to squirm around to his heart’s content and I now have a safe place to put him down and let him explore without containing his movement. Bonus: this mat is double sided—neutral to match our decor and colorful with animals and an alphabet for brighter decor!
Baby Paper: I have my mother-in-law to thank for this particular toy. A simple fabric square of crinkly paper—seems basic but is beyond a household favorite. Nothing can thwart a cry or get his attention like this paper! He’s mesmerized by the sound and now loves to play with it in his hands. I love the combination of hand exploring and cause-and-effect with sound. Brb, wishing I was the person who came up with marketing cellophane as a baby product—pure genius!!
Magic Touch Drums We took a music class this summer and had an absolute blast! Ever since, I wanted to get some baby instruments in the door. The older he gets, the more interested he is in musical objects. There’s nothing like dancing, singing, and incorporating rhythm of any sort with my little guy—I’ve been known to beat box a time or two as well ;) He’s a fan! This drum has so many different settings making it a versatile instrument! He can play three different sets of drum sounds with or without musical accompaniment. It’s so sensitive which is perfect for little baby hands! Seeing him recognize the cause-and-effect of tapping each section has been a blast!
